Welgevonden - South Africa
Hidden in the Waterberg region of South Africa, Welgevonden Game Reserve feels like stepping into an untouched wilderness where time slows down. With rolling hills, dramatic cliffs, and endless savannahs, it offers a more intimate safari experience compared to the busier parks. The reserve is home to the Big Five, but what struck me most was the serenity—watching elephants wander past while the light shifted across the landscape, or catching a glimpse of rhinos grazing at dawn. Unlike many parks, Welgevonden is malaria-free and vehicle traffic is limited, making each encounter feel personal and unhurried. It’s the kind of place where nature doesn’t just surround you—it envelops you completely.
